When people say do 30 minutes of strength training or 30 minutes of weights…What do they mean?

do they really mean liek be there for 30 misn straight and lift non stop like leg curls or crunches or the equipment at the gym. or take little breaks. because its healthy to do like 3 sets of 20 the most. but people can finish that quick so do they do like 10 sets of those !???
What do they mean when they say that..
