training ideas for bicycle tour through indian himilaya’s, nepal and tibet?

I train everyday at the gym on cardio equipment and also cycle everywhere as I have no car. Most weekends go for big rides anything from 90 – 130 km. Should I only concentrate on cardio or would some strength training be beneficial also??
I have Done extensive touring before but dont want to suffer for the first 3 – 4 weeks like I normally do!!!

Well, of course we should all balance cardio with upper body workouts.

In your case, that goes double, considering the places you intend to ride. Gonna be lots of challenges to overcome and you will need to be in excellent shape from top to bottom to get the most out of the trip.

Besides, chicks really dig a well defined upper body on a man. You might get lucky.
