George Michael Sports Machine – The final Plays of the Year

Growing up, The George Michael Sports Machine was a favorite of mine, particularly for the amazing sports moments & bloopers shown in their regular Plays of the Month & Plays of the Year segments.

Sadly, George Michael retired the show in March 2007. Here, in this video, is the final Plays of the Year montage that he hosted for the best moments of 2006.

    If it was ‘ nt for George we would not have Sports Center. He was a true fan of sports and a class act. I liked watching his show because he looked like my Dad. I miss his passion and honest commentating on the games. My heart goes out to the family .

    Im not a real sports fan but I was all ears during George’s Sports segment. I grew up with NBC 4 news and it’s sad that he’s no longer with us. He was the truly the best. RIP George Michael.

    I had the pleasure to watch George in his early years in DC while I was stationed in Quantico in the USMC. After leaving the DC area and going back to Indiana, it was cool when the Sports Machine became syndicated. RIP, George.

    MAN! this guy was the greatest!…..George had such delivery……such energy…and he went and pulled the Sports Machine off of the air because he was worried about NBC laying off people he had worked with for over twenty years. He pulled the show and kept them working….CLASS ACT……..He will be sadly missed… Thankyou George.

    RIP George. i use to watch the Sports Machine from the late 80’s to early 90’s when i was a kid. Even though i had to be in bed for school Monday mornings. I couldn’t go to sleep without watching George and The Sports Machine late night Sundays. Thank you George for so many memories. God bless.
