Cheap work out equipment?

March 8th, 2010

I’m trying to tone up a little bit, so does anyone know any small,
cheap, at home ab work out or leg work out equipment?

You can get a whole body workout using a stability ball ($8 at Walmart,) resistance tubes, ($14 at Walmart,) and dumbbells (price depends on weight)

Then go to expertvillage.com and they will give you exercises for all muscle groups of your body! Also do cardio on your off days, and be sure to eat healthy.

Hope this helps!

cheap, effective, small work out equipment?

i have dumbells.
i don’t have a lot of room so i can’t get a treadmil):
buut does anyone know any really good work out equipment
they’ve had success on that’s cheap and small? thanks.

I’d recommend trying Pilates. It’s a really good system for toning up all over, and most of the exercises can be done with limited space (you just need enough space to lie down full length and stretch your arms out either side). You’ll need exercise mat, but if you don’t have one they aren’t expensive, plus a flattish cushion or pillow, and for a few exercises a stretch band (but you can use a tie or belt if you don’t have one).

Best way to get started is by getting a DVD – Pilates for Dummies is pretty good, and Darcy Bussel (the ballerina) did one recently which is supposed to be excellent. Also with the dumbbells, you do so many simple things, but i dont think i can fit it all here so feel free to email and I could just list you easy lifts you can do

Home work out equipment?

March 2nd, 2010

What home work out equipment best serves for cardio enhancement? i.e. elliptical, treadmill, etc. I do not care for the bikes, they do not provide the cardio I am looking for + I have a bike I ride outside. Thanks for reading!

hi, I used to have a bike but didn’t meet my needs. So I went and bought a treadmill but it’s really puts pressure on my knees. I would recommend a elliptical trainer, as it works both your arms and your legs but takes some of the strain off the knees.
Hope this helps, Pete

Home Workout: Calf Raises

Everybody has been asking for leg exercises, here is the first one. We are starting from the ground up so we are starting with calves. Calves are easy to work out at home but you need some simple equipment which I show you how to make in this video.

Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

What are some classes or work out equipment that promote Cardiovascular fitness?

February 28th, 2010

Develops muscular strength? Muscular endurance? Flexibility? Control fatness?

Cycling promotes cardiovascular fitness and develops muscular strength and endurance. As for flexibility, I’d suggest a tae-bo class. That would promote all of that as well. Any kind of exercise will help control weight.

Guys, what type of work out equipment do you have and use?

How many of you use Bowflex or Soloflex or perhaps another brand of equipment. What are your likes and dislikes about these?

I have a Bowflex, some freeweights, an exercise tower (for pull-ups, dips, etc.), and a treadmill in my basement.

I really like my Bowflex. It does work the muscles differently than freeweights, but it still works the muscles good. It is a safe way to do a lot of exercises that you would need a spotter for at the gym. For example, bench press. You can go to complete failure on a Bowflex, and don’t need to worry about being stuck under a barbell.

The one downside to a Bowflex (IMO) is that it uses progressive resistance. When you first start an exercise, it offers little resistance, but as the rods bend more and more, the resistance increases. If you go slow, though, it puts your muscles under load for a longer period of time, and does help counter the progressive resistance.
