I’m in a situation where I cannot easily do outdoor cardio and I also do not have easy access to equipment for strength training. (It’s related to the fact that I’m currently living in a foreign country.)

Despite its reputation as a “guy” or “jock” thing, strength training is important for everyone. With a regular strength training program, you can reduce your body fat, increase your lean muscle mass and burn calories more efficiently.

Use it or lose it
Muscle mass naturally diminishes with age. “If you don’t do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose, you’ll increase the percentage of fat in your body,” says Edward Laskowski, M.D., a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., and co-director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center. “But strength training can help you preserve and enhance your muscle mass — at any age.”

What strength training exercises to do without equipments?

I’m doing cardio and eating healthy but I hear that adding strength training is great.

So I’m wondering, what strength training exercises can help me lose weight but doesn’t require going to the gym and equipments?

I’m not trying to be a hardcore bodybuilder, i just want to lose weight.

I go on the treadmill and I burn about 300 calories in half an hour.

Strength training certainly is great.

Cardio+eating properly+weight training = most effective way to lose body fat.

Get yourself a set of dumbbells that have the adjustable weight plates. Buy some extra plates so they are really heavy for you.

Dumbbell exercises:
-Dumbbell push ups
-Dumbbell curls
-Dumbbell floor press
-Dumbbell military press
-Renegade dumbbell rows
-Standing dumbbell rows
-Dumbbell overhead squat
-Dumbbell squat
-Dumbbell lunges
-Dumbbell calf raises
-Dumbbell step ups
