		<description>They have no basis in accuracy at all.  The equipment manufacturers put them on there because they know that the average gym-goer obsesses over how many calories they burn while they are on their machine.  And, of course, they are obsessing over numbers that are complete fiction.

They assume everyone burns energy at the same rate which isn&#039;t right.

It comes down to your own individual bodies chemical composition and reactions.
