How to get good sized muscular arms without workout equipment?

My brother mentioned doing pull ups.

There are loads of exercises that you can do, ‘weight-free’.

I do push ups in my work out. These are good exercises that you can do without any equipment.

You shouldn’t exercise the same muscles too many times a week. You should make sure that you eat a proper diet so that you can feed those guns to get them big!

Mainly I want free weights. Some other things too. I don’t know where to look. I can find good prices online but shipping is insane because of the items weight. Thanks in advance.

Try a thrift store, or a discount place like MacFrugals or Big Lots. Oh- also try your local greensheet- sometimes people sell them if moving.

Weight Lifting. More weight less reps or less weight more reps?

February 8th, 2010

Okay im trying to get my arms bigger and get stronger. Im 14 and my arms aren’t that big. The only weight lifting equipment i have are dumbbells. So what should I do more weight less reps or less weight more reps?

To gain size add weight, to tone add reps. It looks like you’re trying to bulk up so add weight with less reps.

February 8th, 2010

do they really mean liek be there for 30 misn straight and lift non stop like leg curls or crunches or the equipment at the gym. or take little breaks. because its healthy to do like 3 sets of 20 the most. but people can finish that quick so do they do like 10 sets of those !???

fitness training queries?

February 8th, 2010

hi, i have not yet joined a gym but do wights and sit ups and press ups in my room, is this equivelent to going to a gym? or does using the proper equipment change how your muscle is built? i dnt want to be huge just toned and a good chest

not alot of difference except you get heavier weights in gym, a gym instructor, music and possibly nice women. I find the gym allows me to do the 3 compound strength exercises…chin-ups. bench press..and squats…then do the important cardio vascular exercises like cycling or cross Trainer…is great if you out of sports or recovering from injury or just for strength and stamina…I recommend it but not everyone feels comfortable in this type of environment, depends how self conscious you are.
N.B if you do the 3 compound exercises i mentioned you dont need to do sit-ups…they bad for your back

What is the best home fitness equipment to purchase for daily use?

I’d like something that i can actually get a work out with while whatching my favorite shows. I want something decent and not an outragous price. Main thing i want something i can stick to and that will give me a workout. I’m female so i’m looking to work out the lower part of the body more then anything!

I suggest an exercise bike, because you can work out at a high intensity on it while watching TV, it provides a good workout for your lower body, and you can find them at whatever price fits your budget. Another good choice would be an elliptical trainer, but these tend to be more expensive. You can set the incline and resistance on these to specifically target thighs or hip. Here is a good intro to choosing an elliptical trainer:

I wouldn’t suggest a treadmill, because it would be hard to run on it unless you devote your full attention, and if you walk on it at a lower intensity, it probably won’t help very much in toning your lower body.

Does you need a gimmick to sell exercise equipment?

If I came up with a great infomercial for free weights, a weight bench, dumbbells, an exercise mat, and a video to tell you how to use all of this, would I be able to make money? Or does every piece of exercise equipment need to have a gimmick if it wants to sell via infomercial?

yes, you must have a "hook" something that makes your product so much better than anything else out there. Otherwise the people that invest in infomercials won’t even bother with you.

What kind of results can I get with no weights or gym equipment?

I don’t have access to a gym right now so will only be doing push-ups, pull-ups, dips, sit-ups and jogging. Anybody ever work out over a long period of time with no weights or gym equipment etc and if so what kind of results did you get? Also, if you know of any pictures online of before and after from people that have done this that would be helpful too.

thanks!

You will not gain much mass but you will definitely tone up and get more lean muscle. Here is a good article: http://ezinearticles.com/?Weightless-Workout—Strength-Training-Without-Equipment&id=57170

There is also a good book called "The Weightless Workout" that tells how to use things around the house like tables and chairs to help you do exercises.

How much faith do you put in those calorie counters on cardio equipment?

February 8th, 2010

It told me I’d burned off 250 calories at the end of 20 minutes on a treadmill. Is that accurate? I’m 28/155/5′7"

The calorie counters on cardio equipment are calibrated for an averagely fit person with a healthy metabolism (ie. not someone who runs triathlons or someone who’s overweight and beginning to get in shape).

It’s probably pretty accurate for you.

And remember, after a good cardio workout, you continue to burn calories for at least another hour.
